The Neutra Institute announces their dates for the "Neutra 2nd Run / Walk for Health", to raise funding for preservation issues.  Sunday, October 7, 2012, the Institute invites us to honor preservation while getting healthy!  The Run/Walk begins at 7:00am and 'runs' until 10:00am.  Tickets for the Neutra Run/Walk are $25 Family & $40 Individual and can be reserved online.
Besides getting your body healthy, you may work on improving your knowledge of the VDL Research House II through the self-guided Home Tour being offered from 10am-5pm.  There will be a Wine Reception 5:00pm-6:45pm for the cost of $35 and a VIP Reception and Dinner for the cost of $65.  An All-Day ticket for both House Tour and Run/Walk are being offered for $150 along with $110 tickets for just the VDL Research House II events throughout the day and evening.

Get there early for registration as the run begins at 7:40am on the Silver Lake Meadow located across from VDL House, 2300 Silver Lake Boulevard.
You may also sign the petition today to show your support for the removal of the traffic signal and replace it with a crosswalk alternative.  You can help restore integrity to the VDL House II; City of Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument #640, by simply signing the online petition.

Richard Neutra founded Neutra Practice at 85 in 1926 while he was still living in the Schindler House.  A few years later, he would take on the design of the Lovell Health House (1929).  The original Research House later became the focus of a cluster of ten Neutra-designed houses on Argent Place overlooking Silver Lake that were influenced by the Lovell Health House but at much more modest prices.  Unfortunately, the majority of the original VDL Research House burned in 1963.  What exists today is VDL II a newly configured home on the old footprint.  Currently, Cal Poly Pomona College of Environmental Design oversees the house and it's preservation.
