Honnold and Rex Research House Arrives onto Market Redone!

1514 Rising Glen Road, Sunset Plaza 90069, Honnold and Rex, architects, 1954
Originally built in 1954, this mid-century modern home was part of the Case Study Research homes examining new building materials through the initiative by Arts and Architecture magazine.  They had commissioned several Architectural Product's Research Homes throughout Southern California. The home was originally designed by architects Honnold and Rex.  Edward H. Fickett, FAIA did the next home commissioned by the magazine in 1955.
This home has recently been renovated inside and out, utilizing the original qualities and architectural elements to expound upon.  Situated at the lower base of Sunset Plaza, 1514 Rising Glen Road certainly is worth mentioning as it is impeccably designed with all the modern comforts one needs in a contemporary home including a completely customizable audio and security system which can be controlled over your Smart Phone device or computer.
The home has had an extensive remodel executed by Xorin Balbes of Temple Home.  The handsome stone-faced fireplace towers tall and is visible from the living area and dining area.  There isn't a surface untouched without impeccable detailing.
The open floor plan allows seemless flow throughout the downstairs living area. The home recently went through an extensive renovation by architect and principal, Xorin Balbes from Temple Home.  Not a detail is missing in this exquisite presentation.
The renovated kitchen has been updated with the finest of appliances and finishes.  The Gaggenau kitchen design accentuates the modern lifestyle.  Miele and Sub-Zero appliances allow for entertaining with ease.  Dornbracht fixtures and Anne Sacks surfaces bring the design to a completion.   Even with a center island, there is plenty of room to to sit-down and enjoy the activities while food preparation occurs.  Notice the large wine cooler.
The family room is another area to escape and relax.
Only a few steps up will take you to the bedroom which has been used as an office area.
The beautiful hardwood stairs lead up to the second floor and additional sleeping areas.
The master bedroom is sun-drenched with beautiful natural light.
The master bathroom is pure delight.  Jetted tub and large shower wet area with a wall of glass invite natural light.  Off of the master bath is a huge walk-in closet fit for a shoes and clothes lover.
Upstairs you will find more sleeping areas with spacious bedrooms.
Again, the finishes and materials used are just top-notch.
The beautiful outdoor area in the back includes a pool and spa with plenty of room for seating.

The home was last purchased in 2008 for $3,250,000.  Bring your offers!
