Each quarter, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) releases their Home Design Trends Survey where they compile the recent trends in home design. The latest report concludes we still have a love affair with outdoor living space.
Other results from the survey indicate eco and sustainability advancements such as low-flow irrigation systems, sustainable kitchen designs and flexible floor-plans for the custom and luxury homes currently being designed.
While luxury takes a step forward, we also see architects increasing designs for elderly living as the population leans in that direction.
Even though we see the trend in home improvements / additions / renovations continue to remain the thrust of the design market, the crest of new designs for a higher-end / luxury architecture market starting to improve.
Couple this with the fact the business market and lending markets seem to be lightening underwriting requirements, while these credit-solid buyer's receive interest rates of 3.6%, the lowest on record recorded only this week.
Another interesting notation is the fact there is a current uptick in design for larger homes after years of down-sizing, while buyers / owners become more eco-conscience.
